Geosynthetics can be effectively used as drains and filters in civil and environmental engineering works in addition to or in substitution to traditional granular material. Geocomposite and prefabricated band drain have high transmissivity and are used in relief of water behind retaining structures, under embankment, below ground, within disposed waste, from soft clay etc.
